As you may already know, I constantly seek “educational” apps which do not cater to children. This search rarely provides any apps of note. Now I don't pretend word searches are educational despite my middle school teachers pretending they were a good replacement for a spelling test. However, this word search app does what it should and does it well.
To be clear: the word search app, cleverly titled Word Search Colorful, isn’t a dictionary but the old game of finding specific words in a pandemonium of letters. The boards are rather large, as there are 300 letters. Word Search hides roughly 70 words in each game.
Word Search Colorful displays the words in the puzzle on the left side of the screen. When you find a word, it receives a strikethrough to denote you’ve found it. Finding words are as simple as dragging your finger across the word once you’ve found it. Found words are highlighted on the puzzle, however the highlight color changes. This helps the puzzle remain legible even after you’ve found 50-odd words.
The app provides little outside the basic gameplay. The two buttons on the top of the screen allow you to begin a new game and access the options. Once you complete a game, you receive a score based on the amount of time taken to finish. The App does come with ads.
